Out Walkin’ Music Video

Stop-Motion Animation
Editing

In 2022, I was asked to create a music video for the song Out Walkin’ by Elliott BROOD. I wrote, directed, animated, and editied the story shown in the video. Stop-motion animation was used to create it. I used paper and paper cutouts to create the scenery and characters, as well as small found objects to create a whimsical sense of dimension.

This project came about when I took an online animation course through my high school. The class prompted me to create a short stop-motion animation. I chose to create that video using paper squirrels. The band saw my video after it was shared on social media, and asked me to create a music video for them in that style. My process started with test animations so that I could work out exactly how the characters would move, and test how I wanted them to look.

I then moved into storyboarding and getting the concept approved by the band and record label. Once production began, I spent about 2 months capturing the action, one picture at a time.  The editing process had a bit of a learning curve, but through this project I learned how to sync music with video, and how to properly edit a stroy together.
